ABOUT:
Born, raised, and residing in Portland, OR. Although I consider myself a hobbyist photographer, few things get me pumped more than picking up a camera and finding something to shoot. Whether it be peacefully observing some environmental scenes at dusk, connecting with someone and their interests through intimate portraiture, ripping through a roll while taking a slow walk on a crowded street, or the electric energy of a live performance, the most important part of the process for me is capturing the best illustration of the experience I can. I suppose I just like to be a fly on the wall.
At this time, I only shoot with 35mm and medium format film. The more deliberate and intensive workflow of using film and it’s analog processes appeals to me much more than that of digital photography. At least that’s what I tell myself; maybe I just enjoy spending copious amounts of money on materials, or I have a minor superiority complex... It’s really anyone’s guess.
Other than photography, I have a deep love and constant interest in music and art. I love listening, discovering, debating, analyzing, recommending, and writing about art in many forms. It only makes sense then that my main intention with photography is to document and present art and artists in an expressive and memorable fashion, and hopefully develop my own identity as an artist along the way.
